Previous WBO junior middleweight best on the planet Liam “Muscular” Smith is set to enter hostile area. Smith, from Liverpool, England, will fight undefeated Russian competitor Magomed Kurbanov for the empty WBO International junior middleweight title Friday at KRK Uralets in Yekaterinburg, Russia.

Smith (29-2-1, 16 KOs) held the WBO junior middleweight world title from 2015-2016 preceding losing to Canelo Alvarez through 10th round stoppage. He is 6-1 since the Alvarez battle, including two successes over current middleweight competitor Liam Williams. Smith is riding a three-session series of wins since his most recent world title challenge, a game 2018 choice misfortune to Jaime Munguia. Kurbanov (21-0, 13 KOs) is a six-year expert who has held the WBO International junior middleweight title twice previously. His most eminent triumph came in November 2019, when he outlived long-term competitor Diego Chaves more than 12 rounds. Kurbanov went 3-0 out of 2020, including a choice success over Ismail Iliev.
