De L. a. Hoya reacts to WBA ratifying Dmitry Bivol vs. Gilberto Ramirez struggle
By the use of Dan Ambrose: Oscar De L. a. Hoya of Golden Boy Promotions was once proud of the WBA’s answer on Wednesday to ratify the battle between 175-lb champion Dmitry Bivol and necessary Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez.
De L. a. Hoya problems out that the 31-year-old Zurdo Ramirez has already won two WBA identify eliminator bouts against Sullivan Barrera and Dominic Boesel.
Oscar feels that the Global Boxing Association did the right issue via siding with him that Bivol (20-0, 11 KOs) must protect against Ramirez next.
Bivol’s promoter Eddie Hearn petitioned the WBA to grant Bivol permission to take a voluntary coverage against Joshua Buatsi next. Hearn’s idea was once for Bivol to struggle Buatsi, and the winner would then protect against Gilberto Ramirez.
The struggle that Bivol needs is a rematch with Canelo Alvarez after beating the Mexican large identify ultimate Would perhaps in Las Vegas.
Now to get to the rematch with Canelo, Bivol must beat Ramirez and then most likely Buatsi if Hearn pushes hard for that struggle.
Commentary from De L. a. Hoya about WBA’s answer:
“We find the ruling fair and truthful taking into consideration Zurdo Ramirez has fought two putting off bouts and has been the number one contender for this struggle since his victory against Sullivan Barrera in 2021. We will continue to art work hard to fortify Ramirez as he campaigns to at some point become a two-division world champion.”
What you are able to say is the WBA made it awfully easy for Zurdo Ramirez to become the essential challenger to Bivol for the reason that two guys that he beat, Sullivan Barrera and Dominic Boesel, aren’t anything else explicit.
If Ramirez gets soundly beaten via Bivol, De L. a. Hoya will wish to make a decision on what trail to take him. While Ramirez does have huge dimension for the light heavyweight division, his lack of tempo is going to continue to obstruct him.
Bivol, 31, is coming off the biggest win of his career together with his victory over Canelo Alvarez. That’s the struggle that the boxing world needs to look nowadays.
They’re not interested by seeing Canelo struggle the 40-year-old Gennadiy Golovkin for obvious reasons. Golovkin has gotten too out of date, and he might fall apart on September 17th when he’ll get in there with Canelo.
